Workplace Wellness

Workplace Wellness is an initiative of Cogent Scaffolding that focuses on the physical and mental health and well-being of our workforce.

We distribute a regular TEAM COGENT Newsletter to our employees that provide information on our workplace wellness initiatives including company social events, BBQ’s, Touch Footy Days, Group exercise opportunities (such as our recent Gold Coast Marathon efforts!) as well as articles on mental health, well-being, recipes and a range of other interesting topics.

We have also begun rolling out health and wellbeing initiatives including the practice of Yoga for physical and mental health.

We want our team here at Cogent Scaffolding to know that they are valued. We want to be here for our employee’s and we care about their health and well-being.

Health and wellbeing initiatives at Cogent Scaffolding include yoga classes and group exercise events.

Mental Health & Wellbeing

Cogent Scaffolding supports the work of MATES In Construction and we have invested in training parts of our workforce in the MIC Connector Training.

MATES in Construction is a charity established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. It is owned and controlled by the Australian Building and Construction Industry.

Connector Training is provided to those people on site who volunteer to become a Connector. A Connector is someone who is trained to help keep someone in crisis safe, while at the same time connecting them to professional help.

We also participate in the annual MATES In Construction “Fly the Flag” day which is held on September 10, World Suicide Prevention Day. In 2017, over 250 construction sites across the country took part in the first ever Fly the Flag for suicide prevention campaign.  On that day the MATES in Construction flag became a symbol that the construction industry is coming together as a community to make suicide everyone’s business.

At Cogent Scaffolding, the mental health and well-being of our staff has become a major focus and we are passionate about helping and supporting our crews to tackle this global issue.
